Superintendent’s Update re COVID-19 (Sunday, March 15, 2020)

March 15, 2020

Dear Weston Public Schools Community,

Given the Governor’s announcement that all schools in the Commonwealth will be closed from March 17, 2020 through April 7, 2020 school pick-up times for essential items only will be moved to tomorrow, March 16 beginning at 11:00. We ask that you follow the schedule below as closely as possible so we are able to more easily practice social distancing while at the schools.

We will be opening schools tomorrow so that students and families can pick up essential belongings and/or check out technology. In order to ensure low numbers of people congregating together, we ask that you follow the schedule below as best as you can:

      • Last Name A-D – 11am – 11:30am
      • Last Name E-I – 11:30am – 12:00am
      • Last Name J-O – 12:00am – 12:30am
      • Last Name P-S – 12:30am – 1:00pm
      • Last Name T-Z – 1:00pm – 1:30pm

We will begin our online Weston School from Home on Thursday March 19. As we roll out this program we ask all to be patient. Our faculty and staff have worked extremely hard over the last few weeks and all day on Friday to get our brand new learning platform ready to go. We will work together to be sure that our students have meaningful learning experiences that will be different from the face-to-face education we are all used to. You will receive more detailed communication about Weston School from Home on Tuesday March 17.

If your child does not have access to a computer at home, please follow this link and we will make a computer available to them tomorrow to pick up. If pick up is impossible for you tomorrow, we will deliver the device at a later date.

A significant benefit of Weston School from Home is that students will remain connected to their teachers during this time in which many may feel extremely isolated. This connectedness to one another is essential for our students social and emotional well-being. Again, I ask for your patience as we roll out this new program and thank you for your cooperation through these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Dr. Midge Connolly
