Letter from Superintendent Connolly (March 19, 2020)

March 19, 2020

Dear Weston School Community,

I want to thank all for our first day of Weston School from Home. Many worked very hard to make this come together in a meaningful way for your children and we are off to a great start. We will still hit some bumps along the way and we still have questions that are not yet answered. However, we are committed to providing high-quality online enrichment education while schools are closed and we will continue to reach out and keep you informed as we move forward.

Given the current growth in transmission across the Commonwealth and the nation, we must take every precaution to social distance. Going forward, all fields and playgrounds in Weston are closed until further notice. We want our students to get exercise and we understand that they want to be together. Families we would ask for your assistance in keeping children safe by not having your children on playgrounds or fields across the town.

I want to thank all of you who have shared your gratitude for Weston’s School from Home program. The email below echoes much of the feedback we have heard:

With today being the first day of online learning, I wanted to write a brief note of thanks to you and the rest of the Weston public school faculty and staff who put together such a great learning experience for our students in such a short time. The fact that this was done while these people are undoubtedly facing their own challenges makes this accomplishment even more impressive. The online learning experience has provided a degree of normalcy to our day and that is invaluable in these times. Thanks again for your dedication to our children and this community.

We know that we will only be able to continue this significant work with you as full partners. We greatly appreciate and are grateful for your collaboration.

Thank you and be well.
