Grades 1-12 World Language Program Review January 6th at 8:30am

Grades 1-12 World Language Program Review

On January 6th and 7th, a group of educators will visit our schools to evaluate our grades 1-12 World Language program. The purpose of this external review is to collect data and respond to a charge set forth by the School Committee. The questions in the charge arose from the World Language Department’s 2023-2024 self-study, the presentation of the findings to the School Committee and the subsequent discussion with the School Committee.

The External Review Team will review materials, observe teaching and learning, and hear from students, faculty, administrators, families and community members. The chair of the committee is Dr. Catherine Ritz, Ed.D., an assistant professor and the program director for the World Language Education and Curriculum & Teaching programs at BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. Other members of the visiting committee include world language educators, department heads and curriculum specialists.

Parents/guardians and other community members are invited to attend a forum on Monday, January 6, at 8:30 am in the High School Media Center to provide feedback to the External Review Team.

The meeting will also be available via Zoom livestream . If you would like to participate virtually, questions and comments about Weston’s 1-12 World Language program should be directed prior to the meeting to Kathleen Baker, Director of World Languages, at bakerk@weston.org.
