HS/MS Feasibility Study: The Why

The Town of Weston has engaged an architect, Lavallee Brensinger, to develop a master plan for the Weston Middle/High School Campus. The reasons for conducting the study include, among others:

  • Several building systems are aging and need replacement—should the town renovate or rebuild?
  • Schools lack adequate small group spaces, and some classrooms fall below state size recommendations.
  • Enrollment is expected to grow 20-40% over the next decade.
  • Recreation and athletics need upgrades, including the pool.
  • The Middle and High Schools are the town’s biggest energy users — efficient, fossil-fuel free systems are needed to meet climate goals

This study will consider a range of options including renovating the existing schools with no additions or changes in program; renovating the existing schools with additions; and building a new school or schools. Options with and without MSBA funding will be considered.
