Weston Accepted into the MSBA Eligibility Program
As announced at the December 15 School Committee meeting, we are excited to share that the Town of Weston—specifically the Weston High School building—has been accepted into the Massachusetts School Building Authority’s (MSBA) Eligibility Period Program. This marks an important milestone in the district’s ongoing exploration of potential school building improvements.
The 270-day Eligibility Period is designed to formalize and streamline the start of the MSBA grant approval process. This phase provides a clear and predictable timeline for completing preliminary requirements, helps assess both financial and community readiness, and identifies key considerations for future planning and budgeting. Successfully completing all activities during the Eligibility Period positions the Town to be eligible for an MSBA invitation to proceed to their Feasibility Study.
While the invitation applies only to the Weston High School building, all options for addressing the building’s deficiencies will be explored. One potential option includes a new facility that would house both the High School and Middle School as separate programs—with distinct spaces—within a single building footprint.
Our Building Project webpage was updated over the break to reflect this development. We encourage everyone to visit it to learn more about the Eligibility Period, view project updates, and access background materials as they become available.
