Assistant Superintendent Search: Community Survey and Invitation to Join the Interview Committee

Dear Weston School Community,

As mentioned in my February 4 congratulatory letter to Dr. Carter and announced at last night’s School Committee meeting, we are beginning the process of finding our next Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning.

During this initial stage, we would like to hear from you, our community, to gauge your priorities for the next Assistant Superintendent. Please complete this anonymous survey to make your voice heard. Despite last week’s blizzard delaying this process by a week, I still ask that all responses be submitted by Thursday, March 12, 2026, to help ensure a robust candidate pool.

For those of you who are interested in serving on the initial interviewing committee, I invite you to let us know by sending a letter of interest to Derrek Joyce at joyced@weston.org also by March 12. Interview committee members will need to be available for one or two full days of confidential interviews (pending the number of candidates) on Tuesday, March 24, and Thursday, March 26. While space on the interview committee will be limited, we are striving to have representatives from all corners of our community.

In summary:

  • March 12: Deadline to submit the anonymous survey and a letter of interest for the initial interviews committee
  • March 24 and March 26: Full day holds for those participating in the initial, confidential interviews

For more information on our hiring process and timelines, I invite you to view the presentation shared with the School Committee last night. The fully public portion of this hiring process will begin on April 2, 2026.

I look forward to providing you with future updates on this process and appreciate your partnership as we look to the future of Weston Public Schools.

All my best,

Dr. Karen Zaleski
