Country School PTO Announcements for the week of April 4 – April 8, 2022
1.BWMPO/PTO Parent Night Out!
The BWMPO and PTO is thrilled to host a Parent Night Out in Boston. It’s been a while, so we are excited to laugh and eat to further connect as a Weston community. Join us on Saturday, April 30th, from 5-7pm, at the Blarney Stone in Dorchester, MA. We are hoping for sunny skies to allow for patio seating, but will be inside otherwise. Capacity is limited so RSVP HERE asap. (deadline Wednesday, April 27th). Ticket price of $25pp will cover apps and a drink ticket. 2. Green Team Spring Cleanup!
Join us for the Annual CS Spring Trash Clean-up on Wednesday, April 6th, right after early release. Bring a picnic and join friends in front of Country School to celebrate the start of Spring. Helping pick up trash around our school and playgrounds is a great way to support the Annual Weston Town Clean-up taking place in April. BYO hand sanitizer and trash bags. Organized by the PTO Green Team.
3. Weston Recreation Town Camp Signup – AGAIN!
Mark your calendar (again) and get ready to yell at your computer (again!): it’s Rec Camp registration time!
Online camp registration begins (again) on Wednesday, April 6th at 7pm, and in-person registration begins on Friday, April 8th at 9am. Follow these links for 2022 Summer Camp Information and Camp Calendars.

5. Weston PTO GREEN TEAM & PARENT EDUCATION present:
OUR LANDSCAPES MATTER: Cultivating Beauty and Biodiversity in Your Garden
By stewarding our gardens as dynamic living systems, we can do much to help address today’s biodiversity crisis and to help mitigate climate change. Claudia Thompson, founder of Grow Native Massachusetts, will take us on a “tour” of her small urban garden in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to illustrate how she created a landscape that now provides important habitat for birds. More than 80 species have visited or nested in this rich native landscape, including many species of conservation concern. With her wonderful story as a case study, we then look at the essential principles that must inform our landscape practices if we want to improve the ecological health of our communities. Come to learn more about native plants, embracing ecological processes, and making your garden a place of love and life.

6. Weston PTO Drive to Support Ukrainian Refugees
The Weston PTO and Give Back Box have teamed up to support the over 2 million Ukrainian refugees who fled to Poland with nothing but the clothes on their backs! It’s easy to help! First, grab your kids, and together pack a box weighing up to 40 lbs of clothes, shoes, and blankets ONLY (in new or very good condition). Next, get a UPS shipping label. We have 150 FREE labels available – EMAIL HERE to request one or CLICK HERE to purchase a label for $15. Finally, drop your box(es) off at any UPS Store. If you need a pick-up or a box, call Theresa Nibi at (617) 519-5010. Boxes will be shipped to Chicago and then loaded onto a container to Poland. If you can’t ship a box or want to do more, DONATE HERE to help defray the $5,000 cost of shipping a container to Poland. Questions? 7. Weston PMC Kids Ride 🚲
Grab your helmet and get biking for a great cause! The Weston PMC Kids Ride is back this year with in-person and virtual options for riders ages 2-12. Click HERE for more information, registration, and volunteer sign-up. 100% of proceeds go to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Contact WHS sophomore Olivia Rome with questions or to volunteer.
Date: Sunday, May 1st, 2022
Time: 8 am registration/check-in followed by 8:30 – 9:30 am ride. Fun activities to follow the ride. Event wrap up by 10 am.
Location: Weston Middle School
Fee: $20 registration fee with a commitment of $40
