Country School PTO Announcements for the week of May 31 – June 3, 2022

1. CS All-School Family Picnic

Please join us for the annual Country School Family Picnic on Wednesday, June 15th, from 4:30-7pm.

Bring your own picnic dinner and blanket, and join families for an evening of fun to celebrate the end of the year! PTO is sponsoring a visit from magician Abrakidabra and the Kona Ice truck for a frosty (allergy-friendly) treat. This event is free for all members of the CS community and will take place on the CS playground and field.

**Please RSVP so we can anticipate attendance for the Magician and Kona Ice truck**

Note! The magician will begin promptly at 4:45pm and last 45 minutes. The Kona Ice truck will serve treats from 6-7pm.

We look forward to seeing you there!

2. Save the Date for WEEFC’s Fall Fundraiser!

On Saturday, October 1, WEEFC will be hosting a community celebration to raise funds for enrichment programming at all five Weston Public Schools. This outdoor tented event will take place from 6:30-10:30pm at the Field School field and feature food trucks & bar, a silent & live auction, and music. Mark your calendars now! Event sponsorship opportunities are available! If you are interested in being a sponsor, please contact Kate Dickie at kdickie@me.com

3. Upcoming Third Grade Events

First Annual Third Grade Picnic!

Calling all Third Grade Families! Please join us for the First Annual CS/WS Combined Third Grade Picnic on Thursday, June 9, from 5-7pm. More information was sent last week via 3rd Grade Room Parents.

This event will be a fun opportunity for third graders from Country and Woodland to come together before officially merging at Field School next September. Meet new families, catch up with old friends, and play together outside on the Field School playground and field.

Third Grade Transition Coffees

-Tuesday, May 31 (9 AM): Students Services Coffee for Parents of Incoming 4 th Graders on IEPS or 504s in the Field School Library (Zoom Link: https://westonorg.zoom.us/j/6719059093)

-Thursday, June 2 (Field School Orientation Coffee for all Parents of Incoming 4 th Grade Students in the Field School Cafeteria (Zoom Link: https://westonorg.zoom.us/j/6719059093)

4. PTO Membership Drive

It’s time for the Weston PTO’s annual membership drive! If you have a child in the Weston Public Schools, please join or renew your Weston PTO membership for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year!  Don’t forget to update your contact information when you join so our directory is accurate (but please DO NOT update your children’s grades – that will take place automatically later this summer).  Please purchase an annual PTO membership for your family here.

Why become a member or renew your membership?

PTO is a vital part of our WPS community, and families of all grades should join so that we can continue to enhance our school community through events, appreciation, communication, and inclusion. Funds raised through PTO memberships allow PTO to plan and execute events throughout the year by helping cover our budget. In a nutshell, the greater the number of memberships → greater budget → fewer contribution asks throughout the school year.

Who should purchase an annual PTO Membership? In short, all WPS families!

If you answer “yes” to any of the following, it likely makes sense for you to purchase a PTO membership 🙂

  • Did your family enjoy taking part in any PTO events at CS? (Ice cream social, Drive-In Movie, Lands Sake Survival Skills, Scavenger Hunt, Third Grade Picnic, All-School Picnic)

  • Do you like to support teachers and staff through appreciation initiatives? (Back to School Night breakfast, Cookie Collab, Teacher Appreciation Week)

  • Do you find an online and/or paper directory listing the contact info for all families in the district useful?

  • Did you find district-wide parent education events helpful? (ex: Raising Brave Kids, Organiza with Purpose, Parenting & Fostering Resilience)

5. Weston Council on Aging Food Pantry Drive

The Weston PTO’s final Community Outreach event for the year will benefit the Weston Council on Aging’s Food Pantry and run from Wednesday, June 1 through Wednesday, June 15.  Fortunately, the food pantry is currently well-stocked!  However, there is a great need for specific items for the food pantry, chef kits, and the upcoming  “Orange You Glad It’s Summer” Grab & Go program.  Given the need for specific items and sizes, we are requesting donations be made directly through the Council on Aging’s Amazon Wish List.  To access the list, please CLICK HERE and send the items directly to the Council on Aging.  For questions, please contact either Theresa Nibi at (617) 519-5010 or Stacy Simon Gilman at (781) 789-5927.

We hope everyone can generously support this wonderful program run by Weston’s Council on Aging.
