CS PTO Update

Hello, Country School Families!

We’re excited to share that Country School has a brand-new Buddy Bench for the playground! Mrs. Maguire introduced it this week, during the first all-school meeting of the school year. She demonstrated how it can be used and did some role play with students to test it out. Our colorful new Buddy Bench is a place for kids to go when they are feeling lonely, left out, or sad. If someone is sitting at the bench, it shows other children that they could use a friend or some support. Children are encouraged to join the friend on the Buddy Bench or invite them to play.

The PTO purchased the bench at the end of the 2021-2022 school year as a way to support our wonderful school community after the challenging and isolating years of the pandemic. We hope it reminds children and adults to be kind and thoughtful to other people. A huge shout-out to Taylor McIntire for helping to make this happen!

We also want to thank YOU for your part in bringing the Buddy Bench to Country School, because it is possible due to your support of the PTO. The money we raise through PTO membership dues, school gear purchases, and other fundraisers throughout the school year allows projects like this one to happen.

The PTO has already been hard at work in other ways during these first weeks of school. We provided breakfast to the teachers on their first day back and stocked the teachers’ lounge with coffee, snacks, and treats to fuel them throughout the day. If you would like to join or renew your membership, you can do so here:  PTO membership.

Below are the latest back-to-school announcements. For more school updates, please subscribe to the Country School calendar. And don’t forget to follow CS on Instagram for general updates and photos! We have also attached some photos of the Buddy Bench and the teachers’ breakfast below.

Field School principal, Dan Green, is reaching out to any parents (K-12) who might be interested in part-time work at one of the town’s elementary schools. Specifically, the schools are hoping to hire lunch/recess monitors between the hours of 11:15am – 1:30pm every day during the school year. These part-time positions are perfect for parents interested in connecting with and supporting students during less structured times. The position pays $16.33-$17.59 an hour. Please notify Dan Green if you are interested.
