We hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend! We have another busy week at Country School. We encourage everyone to attend the Public Forum tomorrow night to learn more about the 3 final candidates for Interim SuperIntendent. More details below.

INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH – PUBLIC FORUM TOMORROW

On Monday, April 10, the School Committee will hold a public forum with the finalists, enabling them to respond to questions submitted in advance by the public. The forum will be held via Zoom according to the following schedule:

  • 6:30 PM: Meeting opens
  • 6:45 PM: Dr. Karen Zaleski
  • 7:30 PM: Principal Paul Peri
  • 8:15 PM: Principal John Gibbons
  • 9:00 PM: Adjournment

During the forum, the public will be invited to provide feedback about each finalist.

In advance of the forum, if you’d like to submit a question for one or more of the finalists, please use this Google Form.

Questions are requested by Sunday, April 9, at 11:59 p.m.

In the meantime, Weston Media has worked hard to process over 6 hours of recordings from Wednesday’s interviews with the three finalists.

You will find that recording here.  The time stamps for each interview are: 13:45 Paul Peri, Principal Weston High School, 1:59:49 John Gibbons, Principal Weston Middle School, and 3:24:29 Dr. Karen Zaleski, Director of Student Services Hopkinton Public Schools.  We encourage you to take time over the next few days to review those interviews.

SCHOOL COMMITTEE INITIAL DELIBERATION

On Wednesday, April 12, the School Committee will hold its initial deliberation in person and live streamed from Case House at 12 PM. The meeting will be open to the public. The committee members will share their own observations about finalists and highlight feedback submitted by the public.

SCHOOL COMMITTEE FINAL DELIBERATION AND VOTE

On Friday, April 14, the School Committee will meet at 9 AM. for a final vote on the finalists. The meeting, held via Zoom, will be open to the public. Zoom Link

The public is also welcome to provide input about the finalists by sending an email to schoolcommittee@weston.org.

KIDS NIGHT OUT TO SUPPORT ANNUAL TOWN MEETING

WHS Student Council is excited to offer a Kids Night Out to support attendance to the annual Weston Town Meeting on Monday, May 8. Children, ages pre-K to grade 5, will be supervised by WHS student volunteers from 6-9:30pm at multiple school locations so parents/residents can attend and participate in Town Meeting. Children will be separated by age (pre-K-K, grade 1-3, grade 4-5) and will be engaged in games, sports, crafts and entertainment. Light snacks and water will be provided.

Space is limited and a signed waiver and prepayment is required by April 30 (late registration accepted until May 5, 2023). NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER MAY 5, 2023. Proceeds from this endeavor will support students’ fundraising efforts and grade events.

Early Registration & Payment received by April 30:
$20.00 per child / $10.00 for each additional sibling / $40.00 family max

Late Registration & Payment received between May 1-5:
$30.00 per child / $15.00 for each additional sibling / $60.00 family max

HOPE & COMFORT HYGIENE PRODUCT DRIVE – EXTENDED

The Hope & Comfort Drive has been extended until Friday, April 14 because donations are still very much needed! Please join Hope & Comfort and the Weston PTO to improve the health, self-esteem, and hygiene education of young people in our community by donating new, unexpired hygiene products. Collection bins are located in the Country School lobby for your convenience. NEW: There are three $50 Amazon gift cards that will be awarded to the top classes (and/or schools) who fill up the most bins. You can also donate here Amazon Wish List.

The most needed items are: Deodorant, toothpaste, sulfate-free shampoo, bars of soap, menstrual products

WEEFC STAR AWARDS – CELEBRATE TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 8-12) is the perfect time to acknowledge a special teacher, aide, or staff member who’s made a difference in your student’s life! Make a donation  of your choosing to WEEFC, fill out the Star Award Purchase Form to designate your recipients, and we will create and send a personalized e-certificate. Submissions made through April 26 will be delivered during Teacher Appreciation Week.

CS LUNCH MONITOR SIGN-UP

Parent volunteers have been doing an incredible job as lunch monitors. Thank you! We have added more slots for April and May. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up. Monitors are needed daily from 11:15-1. Please take as many slots as possible. How fun to get to see your kids in action at school!
