Has your child come home and said, “We had such a fun All School Meeting today!”

Every month, all three of the Weston elementary schools hold All School Meetings, where everyone in the school gets together to review and celebrate our core values. The meetings help keep our community connected by providing an opportunity for the entire school to learn more about the month’s theme. Although each school takes its own unique approach to All School Meetings, they are designed with a similar purpose.

Building a safe and supportive community is integral for setting students up for success in learning.  Students who feel confident and safe in their learning environment are more likely to take risks with their learning and achieve at higher levels. All School Meetings also connect to our School Improvement Plan to implement a positive behavior support matrix/plan that explicitly outlines what taking care of self, others, and community, looks, feels, and sounds like for students and educators.

The model for the All School Meeting mirrors the morning meetings that take place daily in individual classrooms. Using the Responsive Classroom model, these meetings include a greeting, sharing, group activity, and important message.

The All School Meetings reinforce our commitment to social-emotional learning with several key areas of focus:

  • Implement CARES across the district (Cooperation, Assertiveness, Responsibility, Empathy, Self-Control)
  • Share and review expectations for behavior
  • Ensure continuity of the Responsive Classroom framework across all academic areas

Lastly, All School Meetings connect to our School Improvement Plan to implement a positive behavior support matrix/plan that explicitly outlines what taking care of self, others, and community, looks, feels, and sounds like for students and educators.

We encourage families to talk to your students about All School Meetings. Ask your child what they learned and what makes these meetings so much fun!
