1. Field School Picture Day is this Friday, October 14! You can order online via the Lifetouch website at www.MyLifetouch.com by entering the school code: EVTNVQ997. Orders need to be submitted prior to Friday, October 14.

2. Trunk or Treat: You should have received an email from your child’s Room Parents last week, regarding the much-anticipated return of Trunk or Treat! This community event was beloved in pre-pandemic days so we are thrilled to welcome it back. Join us on Friday, October 28 from 4:30-6pm in the Field School parking lot. Trunk or Treat is open to PreK-5 students from all three elementary schools and their families. Parents, please note that this is not a drop-off event and that all children need to be accompanied by an adult. It is our goal to make this event safe, inclusive, and fun for all of our families. Only NUT FREE food items will be allowed.  Trunk or Treat relies on the help of volunteers so we encourage you to sign up if you are able to do so!  This is a really fun way to get your whole family involved, or you might consider partnering with a friend. Please see the email sent out by your Room Parents last week for more information, or you can click to access the Event Flyers and Trunk or Treat Reference Sheet. You can also access the event sign-up here.

3. Trick or Treat for UNICEF: One of our school district’s projects each year has been to collect money on Halloween for UNICEF. Like last year, UNICEF is not providing the orange collection boxes for children to take door-to-door. However, Weston students can still Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!  Donations can be made quickly and easily by clicking here between now and November 2 to contribute to our Weston Elementary Schools fundraising page.  Your donation will help UNICEF deliver health care and immunizations, safe water and sanitation, nutrition, education and emergency relief to millions of children around the world.  Please reach out to Stacy Gilman at stacysimon21@gmail.com with any questions.

You can place your order using the following form: METCO Dismissal pads. For questions, please contact Nancy Fournier at fourniern@weston.org.

6. Elementary Curriculum Forum Series: Dr. Green recently emailed families regarding the upcoming Curriculum Forum Series.  Each forum will present one or more curricular areas across K-5 with opportunities for parents/caregivers to ask questions and give feedback. You can click here for more information. Please note that the location for the Math Curriculum Forum on October 13 is Country School.

7. Responsive Home Workshops: Amy Kelly, Director of Equity and Professional Learning for the Weston Public Schools, will be offering a Responsive Home Workshop for parents and caregivers this fall. These workshops will provide families with research-based strategies for supporting your child’s social emotional needs. The same content will be presented at both sessions so please feel free to attend either session, regardless of which school your child attends. Workshops will take place in the Case House Large Conference Room, 89 Wellesley Street, on the following dates/times:

Thursday, October 13th  6:00pm-7:30pm

Wednesday, November 2nd 9:00am-10:30am

8. BWMPO/PTO “Meet Me Halfway” Parents’ Night Out: Given last year’s success with Parent Night Out, the BWMPO and PTO are excited to partner once again and host the “Meet Me Halfway” Parents’ Night Out. This event will take place at Trillium in Canton on Saturday, October 15th from 6:00-8:00pm.  While not in Boston this time around, Canton is a great halfway destination to further connect as parents.  Tickets are $20 per person to cover food costs, but beverages should be purchased independently.  Please RSVP here by this Wednesday, October 12th.  We can’t wait to see you!

9. Lunch/Recess Monitors Needed: Dr. Green is looking to hire lunch/recess monitors at Field School for part-time work between the hours of 11:15am-1:30pm every day during the school year. These positions are perfect for parents interested in connecting with and supporting students during less structured times. The position pays $16.33-$17.59 an hour. Please reach out to Dr. Green if you are interested.
