1. Curriculum Standards: As Dr. Green shared in his November Field Family Message earlier this week, you can access information on the learning standards covered at each grade level across K-5 subjects by clicking on the following link and then selecting the subject/grade level you wish to view: https://www.westonschools.org/curriculum/curriculum-standards/

As you know, the school district is also offering a series of K-5 curriculum forums that focus on each subject in detail. The next forum (Intervention/Title I) will be held this Thursday, November 10 at Country School from 8:30-9:30am. The forum will also be available online for those unable to attend in person.

2. Save the Date for the Multicultural Fair! We hope you will save the date and consider getting involved in the much-anticipated return of the Elementary Multicultural Fair on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 5:00-7:00pm. We are looking for volunteers to (1) host a booth representing a culture, country, or region; this is the heart of our multicultural fair. Feel free to partner with other members of the elementary community with whom you share a culture, country, or region to co-host a booth! We will also need volunteers to (2) assist with: a) set-up before the event; b) clean-up at the end; c) work a shift during the event; and/or d) help prepare materials leading up to the fair. This event relies on the help of volunteers, so please reach out to us if you are interested in participating. You can contact us directly to volunteer, or be on the lookout for communications and a Sign-Up from your Room Parents in the coming weeks.

3. Principal’s Coffee: Dr. Green will be hosting a Principal’s Coffee on Thursday, November 17 at 9:00am in the Field School cafeteria. The discussion topic will be technology, including social media and phone security. In an effort to be environmentally friendly and cut down on food waste, we encourage you to bring your own coffee or tea in a reusable container.

4. Retirement Party for Country School’s Mr. Kelly: Our Field Schoolers who previously attended Country School all know their beloved custodian, Mr. Kelly! After 36 years of keeping Country School clean and creating a warm and welcoming environment, Mr. Kelly is retiring. Having touched the lives of so many families over the years, the elementary community is invited to join in the celebration at the Rec Center in the Great Room from 2:30-5:00pm on Friday, November, 18. Feel free to drop in any time to wish Mr. Kelly well. Students and families are welcome!

6. Bristol Lodge Annual Food Drive & Student Council Sock Drive

(November 1 – November 23)

Please support the Weston PTO and elementary schools’ annual drive for Waltham’s Bristol Lodge Food Pantry and Homeless Shelters. The drive will run from November 1 to November 23.  Children can bring non-perishable donations to the designated collection bins at Field School. The goal is to collect at least 2,000 items from each elementary school!  Suggested items to donate include canned goods, pasta, boxed juices, cereals, kids’ snacks, condiments, baby food, dried beans and rice.  Pull top-lids are preferred, and all items must be non-expired.

In addition, we are offering the option to donate a grocery store gift card (suggested stores are Stop & Shop, Star Market and Market Basket).  Please send grocery gift cards to Stacy Gilman, 26 Candleberry Lane, Weston, MA or email to stacysimon21@gmail.com.  Venmo donations are also accepted at @Michelle-Raymond-58  (7316 last four digits of phone #).  Please involve your students and give!

As in years past, the Field School Student Council will partner with the PTO on this event, and there will be a special prize awarded to the class with the most items! In addition to the items listed above, Field will be collecting NEW men’s and women’s socks as part of the Student Council’s Socktober and Movember Socks and More! Socks can be sent into school with your student, to be placed in the designated collection bins.

7. The Weston METCO Fruit Sale is Back! 100% of the proceeds raised go to help support Weston High School METCO Student Activities. In the past we have been able to assist with field trip and AP exam fees as well as host special METCO student celebrations and community-building events! We would love to expand our effort and include supporting our Global Student Travel Fund, which offers scholarships to assist METCO Students’ participation in educational travel opportunities. Your orders will help to make this possible! Just click the following link to log on to our group fruit sale website: http://freshfruitorderorg/WestonMetcoFruit. The deadline for ordering fruit with a credit card online is November 20. If you would like to pay by cash or check, please contact Nancy Fournier at 781-786-5851 or fourniern@weston.org. Thank you for your support!
