FS PTO Update

Dear Field School families,

We hope you had a great summer and are looking forward to the 2023-2024 school year!  As the PTO Co-Chairs for Field School, we wanted to welcome and update you on some helpful back-to-school information.

We hope you are as excited as we are for the year ahead!  We plan to be in touch weekly during the year (via direct email or room parent emails) to update families on the latest Field School announcements. New this year –  all WPS families will receive the PTO newsletter, Westword, which will include individual school and district-wide information.

Please reach out if you have any questions or anything else that may cross your mind.  We love hearing from you!  PTO is in the process of updating our distribution lists, so please let us know of any issues, such as a spouse who still needs to receive our communications. Thanks for your patience as we get up and running for this school year.

Below are the FS PTO announcements and reminders for the upcoming week.

1. Volunteering at Field School:

If you are interested in serving as a Room Parent for your child’s class this year, please let us know by completing this Google Form, and we will follow up. Families can also use the form to indicate interest in the Field School Green Team, PTO New Family Engagement Program, and Field School Council. More information about each job is available on the form.

2. Class Lists:

You should have received your child’s classroom assignment via email on Wednesday, and it is also available in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.  Teachers will reach out with specific classroom information.  Click HERE to access Dr. Green’s 8/23 welcome email.

In the coming weeks, room parents will create and distribute class lists to each class. To assist this process, we urge families to fill out the following form, and we will share it with room parents:

4th Grade Class List Form

5th Grade Class List Form

5. A little about us

Taylor McIntire

My family has lived in Weston for eight years. My husband, Pete, and I have four children: three boys at WPS and one future Wildcat. Will and Cutler will both be at Field this year in fifth and fourth grades, and Witt will be in first grade this year at Country. Our daughter, Tilly, just turned two and can’t wait to resume her role as FS PTO mascot, terrorizing FS events, roaming the hallways, and high-fiving all her Field buddies.  I served as a PTO Co-Chair at Country for two years, and this will be my second year as a PTO Co-Chair at Field. I loved getting to know so many of you last year through Field PTO, and I’m looking forward to a great year ahead at FS!

Katie Daunis

I have lived in Weston for 6 years with my husband Peter and our 9 year old daughter, Lyla who is entering 4th grade. I could not be more excited about the next two years! I look forward to connecting with all of you, and being a part of the amazing community that is Field School!

6. Health Form:

Don’t forget to complete the student health form, linked HERE, and return it via email to Nurse Jamy Gaynor at gaynorj@weston.org or print and return it on the first day of school.

7. PTO Welcome Back Ice Cream Social

The Weston PTO invites all Elementary School families to join us on Thursday, August 31st, from 3-5pm for our Back-to-School Kona Ice Truck Social on the Field School playground.  Come enjoy Kona Ice with new and old friends as we celebrate the start of the school year! This is a wonderful opportunity for new families in Weston to meet friends and for existing families to reconnect with old friends.   Please contact Stacy GilmanMichelle Raymond, or Anisha Palmer with any questions.

8. WEEFC Fall Fundraiser!

On Saturday, September 30, the Weston Education Enrichment Foundation Committee (WEEFC) will be hosting a fall celebration to raise funds for enrichment programming at all five Weston Public Schools. This outdoor, tented event will take place on the Field School field and feature food trucks, live music, and an auction. Visit the event website for more details, and be sure to follow along on Instagram for event updates and info on what WEEFC is doing in our schools.

9. Weston PTO – Join or Renew!

PTO membership provides parents and guardians the opportunity to express interest in helping out with a variety of events that happen throughout the school year. PTO membership does not require volunteer time, but the hope is that all families in the District will choose to join or renew their membership to support the work the PTO does in our schools on behalf of our children, faculty, staff, administration, and you, our parents and guardians! Your PTO membership also offers access to an online directory so you can connect with other families in your child(ren)’s school(s). PTO membership also keeps you informed about special events, volunteer opportunities, or other important information to keep you up-to-speed on what’s happening! JOIN HERE!

If you have any questions about membership or your current membership status, please contact the PTO’s Membership Co-Chairs Theresa Nibi and Jaclyn McDonald.

10. PTO Weston Welcome Ambassador Program

New to the Weston Public Schools?

If you are new to the Weston Public Schools and would like to be connected with a current Field School family with similarly aged children who can help you with your big and small questions about school, after school activities, and anything in-between, please sign-up here: New to WPS – Ambassador Request and we will pair you with a Weston Welcome Ambassador. For those in the METCO program who are new to the Weston Public Schools, this program is in addition to the Family Friends program, so please reach out to KirstinBinbin and Lisa who will connect you with both a Weston-based family and a Boston-based family.

Weston Welcome Ambassadors – SIGN-UP
