WHS and Field School Principal Search: Update #3

Dear Weston School Community,

We are excited to share that after reviewing dozens of applications, interviewing several candidates, and conducting reference checks, we have selected finalists for both the High School Principal and Field School Principal openings. The interview committees included faculty and staff, administrators, parents/caregivers, and students (high school only), who deliberated over the candidates, ultimately recommending the top candidates to move forward.

HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL FINALISTS

Susan Bairstow is currently the Assistant Principal at Weston High School, where she also served as the History Department Head, Teacher, and Union President. Susan has been working at Weston High School since 2006. Before her time in Weston, she taught at both Lexington High School and Quincy High School. Susan earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from John Carroll University; a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education/History from the University of Massachusetts, Boston; and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from Endicott College.

John Buckey served as the Superintendent of Schools in Marblehead from 2020-2023. Before his time in Marblehead, John was the Principal of Nantucket High School for 12 years, and he was named the Massachusetts High School Principal of the year in 2013. He also served as an Assistant Principal in Littleton, MA; a Dean of Students at the Andrews School in Willoughby, OH; and Spanish Teacher/Coordinator at the Lexington School, in Lexington, KY. John earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Secondary Education from Asbury College; a Master’s Degree in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard University; and a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University.


FIELD SCHOOL PRINCIPAL FINALISTS

Julie Gelardi is currently the Assistant Principal at King Elementary School in Framingham, MA. Prior to her current position, she served as an Elementary Literacy Coach, Social Studies Facilitator, Middle School Inclusion Specialist Teacher, Math Coach, and Elementary Teacher. Julie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Pediatric Rehabilitation from Springfield College; and a Master’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Lesley University. She also completed a certificate program for emerging leaders through the Perrone-Sizer Institute for Creative Leadership.

Ryan Holland is currently the Assistant Principal at the Winthrop L. Chenery Upper Elementary School in Belmont, MA. Prior to his current position, he completed a year-long principal residency at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Cambridge, and the Florida Ruffin Ridley K-8 School in Brookline, MA. Ryan also served as a Music Teacher in both Arlington, MA, and Virginia. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music: Piano & Choral Education from George Mason University; a Master’s Degree in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University; and a second Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Harvard University. 

Lindsay Quezada is currently a Grade 5 Teacher, and the Grade 5 Team Leader at Field Elementary School. Lindsay has been teaching at Field School since 2017. Before her time in Weston, she served as a Grade 4 Language Arts Teacher at the Chestnut Hill School, in Chestnut Hill, MA; a Grade 4 Teacher at the Potomac School in McLean, VA, a Grade 4 and 5 Teacher at the Center School, in Stow, MA; and a Grade 6 – 8 Teacher at the Immaculate Conception School, in Lowell MA. Lindsay earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Human Development, and a Master’s Degree in Moderate Special Needs, both from Boston College. She is currently enrolled in a School Leadership graduate program through William James College.


COMMUNITY FORUMS

The candidates will visit Weston High School and Field School next week to meet with students, faculty and staff, District leaders, and parents/caregivers. Weston School Community members are invited to meet the Field School Principal candidates on June 4th and the High School Principal candidates on June 5th. The community forums will also be available through Zoom. Attendees will be able to provide input on the candidates via a provided survey. Please see the Family/Community Forum schedules below; the schedules for students, faculty and staff, and District leaders will be sent in the near future.
