Showcasing the work of Weston HS first semester art students, the 4th Annual Winter Art Exhibition will transform the WHS Science Wing into an art gallery! Featuring work from the variety of art course options at Weston High, this show will impress you with what students have been able to accomplish in the Visual Arts in a single semester. Art show openings offer the viewers and artists a special time to view the artwork away from the noise and challenges of the school day, and interact with each other in a more intimate setting. The exhibition will be on display through January 26, 2018.
The goal of WHS Visual Arts is to walk the path between creative experience and product. We initiate projects that explore or reinforce technique and offer students room for a personal and creative response. We want each of our students to recognize their inherent artistic ability comes from openness, practice, determination, and fearlessness. The study of art itself is a wonderful arena for students to visualize progress, to experience much failure, and learn how to take those revelations and inform their next attempt. The materials and tools as well as close observation bring students into a quiet meditative place that stimulates their brain and soothes tension. Their work is a record of their journey through high school. Their experience in art provides lessons that help them navigate their future lives.
