Students Selected for Eastern MA Junior District Music Festival

Mass. Jr. District Music Festival – Weston students

Forty-two Weston Middle and High school students were selected to participate in the Eastern Massachusetts Jr. District Music Festival.  The program is offered by the Massachusetts Music Educators Association as an enrichment opportunity providing a musical experience to talented young people. The students auditioned and were selected to perform in the Junior District Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Mixed Chorus and Treble Chorus.  They will rehearse with guest conductors and then perform in a concert to be held at Lincoln-Sudbury High School on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

Selected for Orchestra were Weston Middle School eighth graders Merrill Chiang (Cello), Nathaniel Gold (String Bass); Mackenzie Morong and Chloe Szeto (Viola); and Ariel Arbel, Carolyn Choi, Ella Kim; and Tongjun Wu (Violin); Daniel Zhu (Oboe); Olivia Chen (Bassoon); and Ian Chang (Timpani); and seventh graders Caleb Graupera and Eric Wei (Cello); Max Ding, Emilio Tanzi, and Carsen Valenta (String Bass); Jessica Shen and Owen Wang (Viola); Aurik Mah and Nadia Wilkins (Violin); and Briar Sutherland-Dufour (French Horn).

Selected for the Band were Weston High School freshmen Jacob Ye (Alto Saxophone), Anna Lian and Caitlyn Rhatigan (Clarinet), and Kate Connolly (flute); eighth graders Luke Leonardo (String Bass) and Aidan Gu (Clarinet), and seventh grader William Connolly (Trumpet).

Selected for Jazz Band were freshmen Clark Ohlenbusch (String Bass) and eighth grader Davis Palmer (Baritone Saxophone).

Selected for Treble Chorus were freshmen Elizabeth Crawford and Katherine Grocela; eighth grader Madeline Koenig, and seventh graders Natalia Serov, Jacqueline Stjernfeldt, Eliana Tillman-Schwartz, and Ava Tillman-Schwartz.

Selected for Mixed Chorus were eighth graders Trevor Gold, Sean Balbale, Sofia Desio, Philip Wohlfield and seventh grader Jonathan Luu.
