Freshmen Student Council Representative Election Information

January 6, 2020/in High School, School Newsletter /by shayj

In October 2019 elections were held for Freshmen Class Officers and Student Council representatives.  The results were as follows:

President-Theo Luu; Vice President- Grace Kirk; Secretary- Haven Trodden; Treasurer-Matthew Korbin

Only one student ran to be a Student Council Representative– Coco Kouyoumjian.  There are normally five representatives from each class.  Now that the freshmen have experienced two quarters at the high school and are feeling more comfortable, Student Council representatives from the upper-class are going to hold an election to fill the remaining seats.

Below is the timeline for elections:

Monday, January 6th –   Students must bring a draft of their speech to turn in at one of the meetings.  The speech should be no longer than two minutes.

One meeting will be held before school at 8:15-8:45 in the Media Center and one after school at 3:15-3:45 in the Media Center. YOU MUST ATTEND ONE OF THESE MEETINGS IF YOU PLAN ON RUNNING.

Ms. Harris, Student Council Advisor, will read the speeches and confirm them with students.  No changes may be made after Monday except it required to.

Thursday, January 9th – Freshman speeches will take place during Advisory Block.

Friday, January 10th –  Elections will be held during lunch blocks.

We understand that some students have stepped up and have been attending the meetings this past month. In order to ensure that all is fair, we must hold an election, but we do applaud those that have been helping the freshman grade out.

With any further questions please contact:

20kianir@weston.org or 20mccoya@weston.org.
We look forward to having the freshman class officially elected into STUCO. Please spread the word to your grade as we hope many students will run.

Thanks,
STUCO
