National Black Lives Matter Week at School February 3-7
Black Lives Matter at School – February 3 – 7
Weston High School is participating in this national movement promoting racial justice in education. Our goal is to raise awareness of how people might be treated differently based on the color of their skin and to think of ways that we as individuals and a school community can make a difference. We will:
- Share data on this issue to the community
- Provide mini-lessons in some classes
- Invite Advisories to watch and discuss a video montage related to racial justice issues
- Present a “Post-it” prompt in the cafeteria where all students are welcome to share ideas on how WHS can be supportive
- Host a poetry reading of HS faculty member Dr. Henry’s recent publication, Teaching While Black
- Sell t-shirts with the national logo for 2020
- Pre-sell cookies during lunch block
Proceeds from all sales will benefit the METCO scholarship fund and the Roxbury Weston program (roxwes.org)
