Training Offered on New Automatic Timing System for Track Meets
Using the profits from the annual Twilight Track Meet, the track team has purchased a fully automatic timing system for our meets. The system uses a high-speed video camera (>2000 frames per second) and computer software to get times accurate to 0.001 seconds. Now we are interested in finding people who are interested in learning how to setup and operate the system. These people could be either students or adults, and there is some money involved, on the order of $75 to $125 per meet, depending on the length of the meet and the number of schools present. We’ll typically need 3 people per meet.
The tasks involved are primarily connecting and positioning the camera, setting up the system, reading the finish line images, and entering the data in the meet management software. We will train anyone interested in these tasks, which are easier than they sound. The coaching staff will be available for support at each of the meets. The dates below are verified meets, others could be added later. Trained operators are always in demand at other sites, and there may be opportunities to work at other schools also for trained individuals.
