Two WHS Students Advance to National Level of US Chemistry Olympiad

Dear Colleagues, Administration, and Parents,

A huge congratulations to senior Neil Malur and junior Anna Lian – they have advanced to the national level of the US Chemistry Olympiad! Anna Lian is the youngest ever and first girl to do so from Weston High.
Neil and Anna began as part of our Weston High team, and they took the regional exam in March.  They now join just 24 other students from the Northeast Region of the American Chemical Society, to compete at the national level in the USNCO later in April.  Typically the national exam consists of both written and lab-practical portions, but these will be modified due to the pandemic.  Winners at the national level are invited to the summer preparation “practice camp” from which the international team is chosen.
No school is permitted to send more than two students, so Weston has achieved the highest possible honor available.  Thank you to our district for encouraging excellence in all fields, including chemistry!
Please join me in congratulating Anna, Neil, and our chemistry team.
Very truly yours,
Leah Gordon
