Thanks from the Pumpkin Festival Committee

Dear Weston Community,
With less than two months of planning, it all came together on Oct 22nd for this year’s Pumpkin Fest to benefit Camp Sunshine. Special thank you goes out to WHS senior Emma Flory, our student chair, for stepping up and taking on the leadership role for this event.  The event raised $10,400.
155 student volunteers came out onto the Town Green last Saturday (10/22)  morning to haul, gut & carve pumpkins, manage craft tables, sell food and entertain the crowd to fundraise for Camp Sunshine. Set on Lake Sebago, Camp Sunshine has the distinction of being the only program in the nation whose mission is to address the impact of a life threatening illness on every member of the immediate family – the ill child, the parents and the siblings.  If you were not able to make it to the event, but would like to make a donation, the JustGiving fundraising page is open for donations until Oct 31.
Logistical support from the Weston Facilities Dept, WHS Custodial Crew and Weston Recreation Center was invaluable in producing this event.  Thank you to Weston Police for joining the festivities and letting the kids, big and small, sit in the squad car and play with the sirens.
Many Weston parents were key players in making Pumpkin Fest happen.  They showed up with trucks and cars early Saturday morning to haul all the food, supplies, tables and chairs to the Town Green. Food sales could not have happened without parents shopping for all the groceries.  Heroic parents that worked the hot grill for many hours were godsend.  Numerous donations came in from generous parents in response to our last minute plea for more silent auction items.  Our gratitude goes out to all of them.
Pictures from the event are included in the attached 2022 Pumpkin Fest Slide Show.  Please enjoy.
