Dear Families and Guardians,

Annual SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) screenings for students per Massachusetts state requirements will begin the week of March 6th.

SBIRT is an evidence-based screening to promote prevention and early identification of risk for substance use in adolescents. During the week of March 6th, school counselors and student support staff will provide an interview-based screening (CRAFFT-N) for all ninth grade students. Student screenings will be confidential, brief (approximately 5 minutes), and conducted in private with a school counselor. Click  here for additional information about the SBIRT screening.

EXEMPTIONS: If you would request your child be exempted from the above screening, please submit an email to Michelle Rizza, RN or myself by Friday, March 3rd.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping all children safe and healthy at school.

Warmest Regards,

Jamy Gaynor, RN
