WHS Quiz Team News

The Weston High Academic Quiz Bowl team had a banner season finishing 5th in the country at the NAQT Small School National Championship Tournament in Chicago on April 27-28.
Players for Nationals this year were Captain Finley Campbell (senior), Ben Rosenfeld (freshman), Lachlan Campbell (sophomore), and Adam Balbale (junior). In addition to finishing 5th overall, Weston was the top team from New England.
On an individual basis, Finley Campbell finished as the #5 individual scorer at Nationals and was awarded “All-Star” status as one of the top players in the country.
In addition to this culminating Nationals tournament, Weston had a successful 2023-24 season, attending 8 separate all-day regional tournaments throughout the school year. The competition fields at these events ranged from 8 to 30 teams from around New England and Weston finished between 2nd and 5th at each of these tournaments, typically against teams from much larger high schools.
Other Weston players at regional tournaments this season include Libby Galton (senior), Claire Kakabeeke (junior), Gabriela Friel (junior), and Julie Hsiao (junior).
The Weston Quiz Bowl team is coached by Computer Science/Math teacher Alison Langsdorf and Colin Campbell.
Quiz bowl is a competitive, academic, interscholastic activity where students answer questions about science, math, history, literature, mythology, geography, social science, current events, sports, and popular culture, in a competitive buzzer-based format. The matches feature a blend of individual competition and team collaboration, testing depth of knowledge, rapid recall, and teamwork skills.
Any Weston High student can join the Quiz Bowl team. Interested students should talk to Ms. Langsdorf to learn more about joining for next season. She can be reached by email at LangsdorfA@weston.org.
