A.L.I.C.E. Drill on Wednesday October 23, 2024

Dear Students and Families,

On Wednesday, 10/23, Weston High School will run an ALICE drill in partnership with the Weston Police Department and the Weston Schools’ District Safety Team. Officer Buckley will be on campus during our drill. The High School will hold class meetings on Friday, 10/18, to review this protocol and answer any questions students might have.

ALICE is an acronym that empowers students and teachers to act in a hostile environment:

A – Alert

L – Lockdown

I – Inform

C – Counter

E – Evacuate

The drill on Wednesday, October 23rd will start at 1:30pm and will take approximately forty minutes. We will run several scenarios, and students and teachers will be asked to either evacuate (as we would in a fire drill) or barricade depending on the situation.

Schedule for Friday, 10/18 (preview of procedures with all students for 30 minutes)

Schedule for Wednesday, 10/23 (scenarios with teachers and students)

Students and families may choose to opt-out of this exercise by emailing skelleyk@weston.org. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Susan Bairstow and Todd Whitten
