WHS Fractal Fair Tuesday, March 11th 6:30-8:00pm WHS Library
What is a “fractal”? What does chaos theory have to do with the stock market or predicting the weather? How does fractals help in fingerprint cataloging? How do neuron pathways and brains relate to fractals? How do you measure the coastline of Nantucket or Florida? And what does fractal music sound like? How can fractals and chaos theory help us understand forest fires? You can find out answers to all these questions and more at our Fractal Fair 2025!
For the last two months, WHS Honors Precalculus students have been hard at work on their fractal projects, doing extensive research and creating their own products related to fractals, iteration, and chaos theory. We NEED your support for this important event and for them to showcase some of what they’ve learned. This event always proves to be an exciting night of learning, discovery, and innovation. I promise you it will not disappoint! There will be live demos, activities, music, etc.
The Fractal Fair this year will take place on Tuesday, March 11 from 6:30-8:00PM in the High School Library. The fractal fair is hosted by the math department but run by all the Honors Precalculus students at Weston. There will be 20 groups in total presenting their projects on a wide range of topics related to fractals. The fair will be appropriate for all kids elementary aged and up, so bring your other children, invite extended family members, uncles, aunts, grandparents, everyone you know who might be curious about how fractals are found everywhere in our world. Please mark your calendars and set aside the night for a time of exploration, learning, and innovation. I hope you will join us!
