PSAT Offered to Juniors Only on October 23, 2025

Weston High School is offering the PSAT for all juniors during the school day on Thursday, October 23rd. The test will begin during W block, so students will need to arrive by 7:45am. We believe that ALL juniors will benefit from taking the PSAT. There are several reasons to take the PSAT, including:

  1. The PSAT highlights a student’s strengths and areas of growth to consider when preparing for the SAT. When given access to your scores through College Board, students can get personalized SAT prep through Khan Academy for free.
  2. Taking the PSAT provides a risk-free environment to familiarize oneself with the digital test format and environment, knowing that scores will not be used for college admissions.
  3. The SAT and most of the AP exams (including AP U.S. History) are now in a digital format as well. The PSAT offered at Weston High will offer an opportunity to practice taking the examination in this format.
  4. The PSAT scores are used to determine eligibility for The National Merit Scholarship in 11th grade only.
  5. A PSAT score is a useful data point for the college search process. While college acceptance is based on a variety of factors, scattergrams on Scoir can help students navigate their options. The accuracy of these scattergrams increases when more data is available.

Online registration is open through Thursday, October 9th on Weston’s My School Bucks (rather than through the College Board). The cost is $25. Payments may also be made in the Guidance Office by check (made payable to the Town of Weston) or cash. Late registration is available through the Guidance Office only between October 10-16th for $30. All registrations are due by October 16. Students eligible for a fee waiver should see their counselor.

The PSAT/NMSQT is a DIGITAL EXAM, and students will be using their own technology for the test. Prior to test day, we will ensure that students have loaded the “Bluebook” application necessary to take the test. (Please note that the PSAT is for JUNIORS ONLY.)
