What to do if the Chromebook freezes.

Perform a hard reboot to unlock the Chromebook. Follow these steps to perform a hard reboot:

Step 1. Turn off the computer.

Step 2. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards.

Step 3. Disconnect the AC power adapter and remove the battery.

Step 4. Press and hold the power button for at least 7 seconds.

Step 5. Reconnect the AC power adapter, but do not connect the battery.

Step 6. Turn on the computer.

**If the computer starts up normally, you are done.**

What to do if the Chrome operating system does not load (Chrome OS).

These instructions describe what to do when your Chromebook has power but does not boot up into the operating system. If the computer is unresponsive, freezes, or has a dark display, follow the steps in this document to resolve the issue.

Step 1: Remove external devices

Step 2: Perform a hard reset

**A hard reset does not remove any local files or settings.**

Step 3. Press the power button and refresh  button for five seconds. The computer turns off, and then turns on again.

If necessary, press power button again to turn on the laptop.

If the issue persists, continue to the next step.

How to reset your Chromebook to factory settings.

You might want to reset your Chromebook if:

  • You see the message “Reset this Chrome device”
  • You’re having problems with your user profile or settings
  • You’ve tried restarting your Chromebook and it’s still not working normally

Tried these steps first:

If neither of these steps fix the problem, continue to these steps.

Step 1. Sign out of your Chromebook.

Step 2. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.

Step 3. Select Restart.

Step 4. In the box that appears, select Powerwash  Continue.

Step 5. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.

Note: The account you sign in with after you reset your Chromebook will be YOUR WESTON SCHOOL ACCOUNT

Step 6. Once you’ve reset your Chromebook:
