Students Praised at MSBA
On September 24, Field School Principal Matt Lucey, Teacher Carol Schopfer, Technology Integration Specialist Kate Benson, Assistant Superintendent Pam Bator and I accompanied a group of students into Boston so that they could make a presentation to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) on project based learning.
In a word, they were outstanding! The two boys and three girls, now in the Middle School, clearly articulated how they used the Field School Building Project to frame driving questions, conduct research, and create solutions. They also shared what made the experience so valuable.
After the presentations, Massachusetts State Treasurer Steven Grossman, who chairs the MSBA, gave high praise to them and asked that we create a video of their presentations so that the MSBA can distribute it to school districts throughout the commonwealth. Other MSBA Board members and the Executive Director Jack McCarthy also noted how impressed they were with the students, the project and the WPS staff.
Kudos to the faculty and staff of Field School for embracing project based learning and for their ongoing support of our students!
