Parent/Community Feedback needed for Long Range PlanSimilarly to corporations or other educational institutions, the Weston Public Schools relies on a strategic or long range plan to articulate organizational goals and to guide decisions on staffing, budgeting, training, and the use of scarce resources.
Upon becoming Superintendent in 2008, I met with a wide range of community leaders, faculty, staff, parents, and the general public to seek feedback through conversations and surveys. The data was used to create the 2009-2014 Long Range Plan, which can be viewed here. Each June I report to the School Committee on our annual progress in meeting the goals set forth in the plan. Last year’s report can be viewed here.
It is now time to gather community feedback to create the next Long Range Plan. Faculty and teacher leaders spent time this year discussing the future, identifying emerging trends, and focusing on new practices in teaching and learning. The next step in collecting data is a parent/community survey. Your confidential responses will be collected and analyzed by Janice Kinder, the consultant we have engaged to design and conduct the survey. Janice has worked with WPS for several years and specializes in leadership development and strategic planning.
The survey will be on line until June 1st. Ms. Kinder will then compile the results and create a report to be presented at a School Committee meeting in the fall. The data will be used in creating the 2015-2020 Long Range Plan.
Your input is important; please take about 8-10 minutes to complete the survey.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
