Search for New Assistant Superintendent for C & I

As announced in December,  I will be retiring as of June 30, 2015. The School Committee anticipates hiring a consultant to conduct the search, which will begin in late summer or early fall. It is possible that the new Superintendent will be from outside the district. Assistant Superintendent Amber Bock’s departure to become Superintendent in Westborough leaves a vacancy to fill this year.

WPS is in the midst of several important initiatives, all of which would benefit greatly from continuity of leadership from the office of Curriculum & Instruction.  Both the School Committee and the Administration believe it would be highly advantageous if a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction was selected from within the district. Therefore, the initial search for a permanent replacement will be focused on in-house candidates.

Volunteers will be solicited to serve on the interview committee: an elementary curriculum specialist; Department Head/Director; Grade Leader; Principal; Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations; three teachers & two parents (one representing elementary and one representing secondary).

Applications for the Assistant Superintendent position are due no later than April 16 and interviews will take place in late afternoon on April 28 and 29. I will make a decision by May 5 to to appoint a candidate or to conduct a new search that would include candidates from outside of the district.
