Dr. Cheryl Maloney announces the selection of Dr. Christine Price as the next principal of Country School. Dr. Price will begin her principalship on July 1, 2010. The Superintendent's decision to appoint Dr. Price resulted from a comprehensive search process involving members from all constituencies of our school community, including parents, students, faculty, staff and administrators. The administration appreciates the feedback provided and the great interest expressed during the selection process. Along with reference checks and site visits, these reflections were an important factor in the Superintendent's selection. Dr. Price comes to Weston from Acton, Massachusetts where she has served as Principal of the Luther Conant School since 2007. Previously she worked in a private school, serving in a variety of key roles at the Belmont Day School, Belmont, Massachusetts from 1987-2007. At Belmont Day, her responsibilities over the years included Primary Unit Coordinator; Curriculum Development Coordinator, PreK-8; Capstone Coordinator: Director of 8th Grade Independent Study Program; and teacher of Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten, Grade 7 Literature, Grades 3 and 4 Science, Grade 6 Arts/Social Studies, and Visual Arts. She has also worked in educational publishing and served as an Academy Coordinator at the Massachusetts Academy for Teachers. Dr. Price earned a Master of Education and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from Lesley University. She has a Bachelor of Arts from the Wells College in Aurora, New York. Dr. Price resides in Concord with her husband and two daughters. Weston is fortunate to have found such an exceptional educational leader for Country School. According to Dr. Maloney, "Because of her deep understanding of child development, strong background in literacy and commitment to early elementary education, Christine Price will be an ideal leader for Country School. She will continue a legacy of excellence and be a welcome addition to our learning community." | ||
