The Educational Technology & Library Media Office works to support the mission of the Weston Public Schools by integrating technologies into management operations, providing library media materials and support, enabling curriculum tools for students and staff, and empowering community through communications.  Ed Tech

 

The Educational Technology & Library Media Office is comprised of library staff, technology integration staff, network infrastructure staff, and desktop support staff.

 

We have implemented several technology initiatives over the last few years with the aim of enabling the long term personalization of education.  To this end, we first started by preparing our base platform (network infrastructure) to handle the communication needs of all students and staff.  Next we embarked on the following projects:

Lee McCanne was born and raised in Colorado where he enjoyed camping in the mountains, the clear open sky, and many trips with his family in the western part of the country. After completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Colorado State University-Pueblo, he taught middle school Band and Choir for the Fountain Fort Carson Public Schools near Colorado Springs. In 1993 he moved to Weston and began graduate coursework at Boston University in the field of Educational Media and Technology. While completing his doctoral coursework he taught undergraduate and graduate coursework in for the Boston University School of Education. In 1997 Dr. McCanne accepted the role of Technology Coordinator for the Wilmington Public Schools and in 1999 moved this work to the Belmont Public Schools as the Director of Technology. In 2003 Belmont municipal technology responsibilities were added to his role. In 2004 he completed his Doctorate in Educational Media and Technology from the Boston University School of Education.

 
Dr. McCanne served as a member of the Educational Technology Advisory Council to the Massachusetts State Board of Education. He is a Board Member and Treasurer of the Weston Media Center, local cable access studio. He has been a Rotarian, serving as President of the Rotary Club of Belmont. He has served as a town resident on the Weston Cable Advisory Committee, and now in the role of Director of Technology for the Town and Schools.
 
Dr. McCanne resides in Weston with his wife and two sons.
