WHS Musicians Selected for
National Orchestra
October 26-29, 2014
Nashville, TN
Josh Avery (viola), Lilia Chang (violin), Sara Kawai (Harp) and Hannah Levine (String Bass) have been selected to participate in the 2014 NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles, which represent the top performing high school musicians in the United States.  
Open Campus Policy Change
Starting in September, juniors and seniors will have open campus 
Read Mr. Parker's letter for the full policy
privileges. After arriving at school, they may leave campus during any free block. As long as they are in class on time, there will be no penalty. Of course, if a student is late there is a penalty. I will review this policy with seniors and juniors at the first class meetings in September.  Open campus is a privilege and not a right and can be taken away at any time if deemed necessary.

AP US History Override Reminder:

Juniors who have requested overrides into APUS History are required to complete the online Ramp-up course assignments

have an up to date physical on file with the school nurse prior to tryouts.  
Physicals can be dropped off 
9am-2pm, Monday-Friday,
at the High School Main Office.
WHS Boys Tennis Team
raises $4,816 for the March of Dimes
Visit Spring Sports
For the third year, the Varsity Boys Tennis team completed its "Do It for the Babies" pledge drive for the March of Dimes.  The March of Dimes was founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to combat polio. Having essentially eradicated the disease, the organization turned to themission of improving the health of babies by seeking to prevent birth defects, prematurity and infant mortality.

Trish  Howard will join Mary Jean Keany and Ann McInerney as the 3rd Parent Advisor planning all class activities.  They look forward to your support and we are grateful for their dedication to the class!

Boys' Tennis State Champions
Wednesday, June 11, 2014
The Boys Tennis team (North Sectional Champions) beat Cohasset (South Sectional Champions) 5-0 on Monday, June 9, 2014, to advance to the Massachusetts State Championship. 
On Wednesday, June 11, the team prevailed in a 5-0 sweep over Whitinsville at Northboro HS.  All three singles and the two doubles matches won their contests.   Congratulations team!

Freshman Parents needed for Orientation Welcome Barbeque - Thursday, August 28, 2014  for students, staff and faculty. This is the first volunteer opportunity for parents and guardians. We need 10 volunteers total, staggering shifts 10:30am-1pm. No experience necessary. If you are interested, please email us and include time availability.  We will coordinate and email a schedule to volunteers.

Students analyze WHS drop in Boston Magazine Ranking  At the June 16, 2014 School Committee meeting, WHS juniors from the AP Statistic classes taught by John Monz and Bailey Fiddler presented their findings related to the Fall 2013 high school rankings. They investigated why WHS dropped from number one to number eleven in Boston Magazine and why the school was not ranked in U.S. News & World Reports. Both their research and their presentations were well extremely well done as they uncovered the ever changing world of big data. 2014-2015  If your child takes medication at school, please download the necessary forms for the physician and parents/guardians to complete for the 2014-15 school year.  
A reminder:  Please pick up your child’s medication in the nurse’s office before the last day of school. Any medication left beyond the last day of school will be disposed of.
