Today's win with 297 was the team's first since 2011.  Austin Prep was second with 306. 
Also Henry Hall (72), Marshall Clemens (73) and Will Bertelson (74) qualified to compete in the Individual State Championship at the Div. III State Championship Tournament next Monday, October 27, 2014

The WHS History Department welcomes students to apply for our annual Prague Spring trip.  Our visit to cultural sites relating to World War II is a truly unique and enriching experience for all students interested in history, human rights, art, language, and travel.

The total cost for these 8 days is approx. $1450.

the School Store
Stockyard, the School Store is opening soon and we need your help.
The store operates like a corporation.  
Your purchase of $20 per share finances the food and clothing to be sold in the store and your help working in the store during a free or study block entitle you to a share of the profits at the end of the year. 
The store will be open during 2nd, 4th and 5th blocks.
Applications are available 
on the door to Mr. Guerra's office (Room 42).  
Please see him if you have any questions.  
Once the schedule has been created
he will train you on operating the store.
US History Students: Earn Extra Credit 
by touring the Golden Ball Tavern Museum in Weston Town Center.  
The museum will be giving tours on:
Sunday, October 26 at 3:30 pm and 4 pm; and 
Wednesday, October 29 at 7 pm and 7:30 pm.
Groups of 3 or more students can also arrange alternative tour times.

The WHS coaching staff and METCO Alumnus Marcus Craigwell ’04 will lead the clinic.  WHS Lacrosse team members will make sure everyone has a good time.  
Any player that can score on the HS goalie will win a prize!
All participants can enjoy post-clinic Pizza in the HS cafeteria.

earns 11th nomination
The WHS Theater Company has been nominated by the American High School Theatre Festival committee to represent the best of American high school theater.  This is our eleventh nomination since 2004.

At the first Massachusetts Math League meet of the year WHS considers any total score above 100 a good score; this year we scored an amazing 125!  The team round won 15 out of 18, our best

As you will see, there are many requests because we are expecting over 400 people to go through the tour in two hours! This is a volunteer opportunity that is well worth it and it is fun to see them shine in their different roles.  Thanks in advance!
The draft 2015-2016 school calendar has been presented to the School Committee and is expected to be approved at its meeting of November 3, 2014.  Feedback on the proposed calendar. The first day of school for students (Grade 2-12) is scheduled to be Wednesday, 9/2/15, which precedes Labor Day.  The draft calendar includes no school on Rosh Hashanah (Monday, 9/14/15) and Yom Kippur (Wednesday, 9/23/15), and a half day on Good Friday (Friday, 3/25/16).The earliest last day of school, with no snow days, would be Friday, 6/17/16. Please send any comments on the calendar to Superintendent Cheryl Maloney or Mrs. Danielle Black, School Committee Chair.  We appreciate your feedback, which will be shared with the School Committee.   Posted 10/16/14

Parent representatives elected to WHS School Council Congratulations to Alice Benson and Louise DeLuca-Carter. Parent portal to open Tuesday, October 14, 2014. The portal will strengthen the ability for all of us involved in students’ progress in their classes to communicate meaningfully and effectively. You'll be able to have specific conversations with your children and teachers regarding homework production, quizzes, tests, and projects.

Teachers will update information regarding students’ progress a minimum of every two 8-day cycles for short-term assignments (approximately every 2-3 weeks).and no later than three cycles after the due dates of long-term projects and assignments (approximately every 4-5 weeks).  Traditional progress reports given at the midpoint in each quarter will be required only for students on an IEP or a 504.   Posted 9/30/14
