Dear Woodland School and WPS Community,

We are excited to share that, after reviewing dozens of resumes and interviewing several top candidates, we have selected two prospective finalists for the Woodland School Principal role.  The interview committee included faculty and staff, administrators, and parent representatives who deliberated over the top candidates, elevating two outstanding applicants to move forward.

Ms. Emily Charton is currently an Assistant Elementary Principal in the Needham Public Schools, and formerly served as the Principal of Boston Collegiate Charter School from, and K-8 Principal of JCDS, Boston’s Jewish Community Day School. Prior to those leadership roles she served as an English Teacher, Department Chair, and Grade-Level Leader in Boston and New York City between 2006 and 2013. Emily earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature at Washington University in St. Louis, and a Master’s in English Education from New York University. She also expects to finish her Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy at Boston College in 2023.

Mr. Jason Dimen is currently an Assistant Elementary Principal in Hopkinton Public Schools, and formerly served as an Assistant Elementary Principal in Southbridge. Prior to those leadership roles he also served as a Math and Science Teacher and ELL Community Liaison in Framingham, he served a similar role in Boxborough for twelve years, and before that he taught in Worcester. He also previously worked over ten years in various business and human services leadership positions. Jason earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Boston University, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Seattle University, along with related coursework at Lesley University.

The two finalists will be visiting Woodland School on Thursday, May 26th to meet with families, faculty and staff, district leaders, and representatives from the School Committee. Woodland and Weston community members are invited to meet the candidates Thursday evening at the Woodland School Library (5:30-6:15 PM, and 6:15-7:00 PM). The community forums will also be available on Zoom, and we will follow up with the Zoom link for online attendees later this week.
