My name is Kelly D’Amaro and I am currently one of the Senior Class Parents. I have been a CP for this class for the past 4 years. Having spent the better part of parenting as a professional volunteer, I will tell you that this volunteer job is my absolute favorite! I am getting teary thinking about ‘graduating’ with the Class of 2025 in 2 weeks! Somebody asked me if I’m also going to wear white with the graduates…um no, but should I? Kidding!
Seriously though…this is not the easiest volunteer job. It’s a big commitment. I worked with a very strong team of parents and faculty advisors, and we shared the load. Some weeks were just not it for me. Sometimes, I had other commitments and that is totally fine! We supported each other and switched off carrying the weight.
As a CP you get to be involved in everything. You work with the student government for your class and seek out their ideas and thoughts about what direction they want to go for all of the events – dances, field trips, breakfasts, fundraisers, etc. Every year looks different and brings new events.
I absolutely loved and enjoyed all of the time I got to spend with the kids and my fellow parent and faculty advisors. I hope you will consider raising your hand and moving up to the WHS with your 8th grader. You will never regret it!
