Dear Weston Community,
I am sharing an update on our search for a new principal for Weston High School. We posted for the position and began the recruitment process on December 9, 2019. As of January 8, 2020, 43 candidates applied for the position, many of whom are established, successful educational leaders. With a strong pool of candidates, we are ready to move forward with the hiring process.
Yesterday, we convened a team of volunteers, including parents, teachers, and administrators to review applications and select the 10-12 best candidates to advance. Later this afternoon, a team of school and district leaders will meet to review additional information about the candidates — including a data analysis/writing exercise — in order to identify the 5-8 candidates we will invite to interview next Tuesday and Wednesday, January 21st and 22nd.
The interview team will include students, parents, teachers, administrators, and a member of the School Committee. Our goal will be to select 2-3 finalists.
Once the finalists have been selected, we will first conduct site visits at their respective schools during the week of January 27th and then schedule full-day visits to Weston High School will happen the first week in February for each finalist. During finalists’ visits to Weston, students, parents, teachers, and administrators will be able to interact with the candidates, ask questions, and give feedback. The meetings for parents will be scheduled for 9:00 AM during that week. After interviewing each finalist one last time and reviewing your feedback, I will enter into negotiations with our leading candidate.

This is a very important hire for the Weston Public Schools and I am encouraged by the quality of applicants and the great work of faculty and staff members and community volunteers participating in the process.
