Dear Weston School Community, 

We have entered the final week of the School Committee’s Interim Superintendent Search. Appreciation goes out to all of those who joined us last night, and to those who attended or viewed the School Committee’s longer in-person interview. Below you will find a recap of the progress we made since the last communication, and the schedule for our final meetings.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE PAST WEEK

On Wednesday, April 5, the School Committee interviewed the three finalists. The interviews were conducted face to face at Case House, and each lasted 105 minutes. The committee asked the same 22 questions of all finalists, as well as several additional questions unique to each finalist. Weston Media Center recorded the interviews, and they’ve posted them on their website. Click this link for more information and for access to the recording. 

On Monday, April 10, the School Committee hosted a meet-the-candidates public forum on Zoom. Questions for the candidates were solicited from the public in advance, and moderator Cortney Leung, a Weston High School junior, posed the same set of questions to each candidate. Attendees were invited to provide feedback about the candidates via an online survey after each of their segments. The Zoom recording of the forum is available at this link.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THIS WEEK

On Wednesday, April 12, the School Committee will hold its initial deliberations in person and live streamed via Zoom from Case House starting at 12 PM. The meeting will be open to the public. The committee members will share their own observations about finalists, results of reference checks, and highlight public feedback.  

On Friday, April 14, the School Committee will meet remotely at 9 AM for final deliberations and an anticipated vote on the finalists. The meeting, held via Zoom, will be open to the public. 

The public is also welcome to provide input about the finalists by sending an email to schoolcommittee@weston.org.
