Updates from the District Safety Team
Dear Weston School Community,
Families from all five schools are invited to join the WPS Safety Team for a forum on November 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the Amy Potter Center at Weston Middle School. This meeting is an excellent opportunity to learn about our practices surrounding school safety and to ask questions. We will also use this time to discuss the specifics of the ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) protocol and run through a few scenarios so you can experience how the drills are performed. Our District Safety Team Leaders will facilitate these forums:
- John Buckley – School Resource Officer, Weston Police
- Phil Oates – Principal of Weston Middle School
- Erin Maguire – Principal of Country School
For those unable to attend in person, you may access this Zoom link: <A new Zoom link will be sent via email at 6:00pm on the 7th. to all families>
Additionally, on November 21st, Weston Middle School and Weston High School will be hosting the Weston Police Department in a joint effort to strengthen school safety. Staff and students will be participating in ALICE drills during the school day.
Each elementary school will work with the Weston Police Department to teach students about handling emergency situations safely. Police officers will read to classrooms and answer questions to help them be more prepared. Information regarding these lessons will be forthcoming and shared with Elementary families regarding the timing of these lessons and the content.
We look forward to seeing families from all schools at the November 7th forum.
All My Best,
Dr. Karen Zaleski
Interim Superintendent
