Taste Test Day

Taste Test Tuesday will be on November 13th.  Students will have the opportunity to try Quinoa Salad with Vegetables.  This recipe uses black beans and was submitted by Country School parent Mary Antaki.    Weston Public Schools participates in the National School Lunch Program.  As such, we are required to offer students beans and legumes at least once per week.  By offering beans and other legumes in a variety of different preparations, we hope to encourage students’ familiarity with and preference for this protein-packed, sustainable source of fiber and B vitamins.  If you would like to submit a recipe or support this program with your time, please contact WPS Nutrition Analyst and Farm to School Coordinator Kelly Shaw.

Alternate menu items offered daily: Sunbutter and Jelly Sandwich, Turkey Bagel Sandwich, Turkey Croissant Sandwich, Bagel and Cream Cheese, Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad

Fresh fruit and milk offered daily.

Before placing your order please inform your server if a person in your party has a food allergy.

Taste Test Day

In September, students tasted fennel from Land’s Sake Farm.  The reviews were decidedly mixed, but Country School has many students who are eager to try new things.  While there are currently no plans to feature fennel on future lunch menus, it was a great start to a year of adventurous eating.  If you have ideas for future taste tests or would like to volunteer with the Taste Test Day program, contact WPS Nutrition Analyst and Farm to School Coordinator Kelly Shaw.
