Dear Weston Schools Community,
I am pleased to announce the finalist for the Director of Student Services opening with the Weston Public Schools. After an initial review of applications and phone interviews, a committee of parents, educators, and administrators interviewed candidates last week and selected four candidates to advance. The four candidates were then asked to complete two hiring exercises that are similar to the day-to-day work of the position, and we conducted an initial round of reference checks. One candidate stood out, Martha Bakken, and she will be visiting Weston this week to meet with faculty, staff, parents, and administrators.
Families will have an opportunity to meet Martha Bakken via Zoom on Wednesday, April 28th (additional details to follow). Click here to submit a question for Ms. Bakken prior to the Zoom meeting.
Martha Bakken began her career as a Bilingual First Grade Teacher in New York City, and has taught and held leadership positions in Boston, Everett, Westwood, and Lexington. She is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for the Stoneham Public Schools. Ms. Bakken holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Languages and Cultures from Columbia University; a Master of Public Administrator from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University; a Master of Science from Wheelock College; and a Master of Arts from the University of Massachusetts – Boston.
