Country School PTO Announcements for the week of March 7 to March 11, 2022

1. Country School Tours!

Per the email from Mrs Maguire earlier this evening, Country School will begin offering tours to families this Friday, March 11th. This first opportunity is extended to families of Preschoolers, Kindergarteners, First Graders and any new families from second and third grade.   In order to hold small tour groups, we are asking that you attend during the scheduled time according to your last name.  The time will be to simply tour the building and see the various classrooms.  The following is the schedule for the school tours:

Last Name

Tour Time

A-F

1:30-2:30

G-L

2:00-2:30

M-S

2:30-3:00

T-Z

3:00-3:30

We hope that many are able to join us on Friday, however, we know some may not be able to.  We will have another opportunity for school tours soon.  We look forward to seeing many of you and showing off our beautiful school.

2. PTO Parent Ed Event: Parenting and (Still) Fostering Resilience (March 16)

Parents often feel like they are running a marathon. Parenting is happening under complex, ever-changing circumstances, further complicated by worry about illness, changes at school, social distancing, and both real and anticipated negative mental health impacts on our kids and teens. Join us for this interactive session about parent resilience, including practical strategies on how we can take care of both our children and ourselves during these challenging times. Event will include a brief presentation with time for discussion and Q&A. Flier attached.

Wednesday, March 16th at 7 PM

Virtual presentation will be one hour followed by a Q&A.

3. Guidance and Counseling Department Survey

Dear Weston Public Schools Families –

As a reminder, we are seeking input from parents / guardians on their perceptions of the guidance department in Weston. This quick survey typically takes less than five minutes to complete. We greatly appreciate your time in responding. Our goal is to understand how we are meeting the needs of our community so that we can improve where needed and strengthen what is working. All responses to this survey are anonymous and will be reported out only in summary form.

Please fill out the Weston Guidance and Counseling Survey once for each student in your family who is enrolled in the Weston Public Schools if you have not done so already.

The survey will close at the end of the day Tuesday, March 8th. Thank you for your participation in this effort

4. Mask Update

Starting Monday, March 7th, Country School will be “mask-optional.”  All students should still bring a mask to school every day. Despite the shift to “mask-optional” there are still certain areas of the building (like the nurse’s office) where kids must wear a mask.

5. Weston Recreation Spring Signup

A reminder that Weston Recreation Spring signup is on Monday March 7th at 7:00 pm. Summer camp sign up will be on March 29th.

6. Juana Medina Virtual Author Visit (March 8)

Award-winning author and illustrator Juana Medina will visit all second-grade classes at Country and Woodland Schools on Zoom on Tuesday, March 8. Juana won the Pura Belpre Award in 2017 for her series Juana & Lucas, representing characters from Latin America. Juana will discuss the purpose of the series and share the process for writing and illustrating children’s books. Wellesley Books is offering online orders for purchase and signing. For more information please contact Emma Kwon. Many thanks to WEEFC and the PTO Creative Arts team for sponsoring this program!
