CS PTO Update

Hello Country School Coyotes!

Thank you to everyone who attended the Parent Forum last week with Mrs. Maguire. We had a great turnout, both in person and online, and it was nice to see so many new and familiar faces!
Please join us this Wednesday, September 20th from 5-7pm, for the Back to School Picnic on the Country School playground. BYO blanket and picnic. The Kona Ice Truck will be back by popular demand and selling shaved ice treats starting at 5:30pm. The weather looks great for Wednesday, so we hope to see all of you there!

Picture Day is Friday, September 29th and we are seeking volunteers to lead students out to the playground and assist as they wait in line. The volunteer slots are for one-hour increments, but if you can stay longer, that is wonderful. Click here to view the Sign-Up Genius and select the times that work best for you.

Mark your calendars for Back to School Night on Thursday, September 28th! Mrs. Maguire will distribute information this week, and times are listed below.

Please subscribe to the Country School calendar to stay up to date on all school and PTO-related activities, and follow us on Instagram @countryschool for school-related photos and information.

Have a great week, Coyotes!

LUNCH MONITOR SIGN-UP

A reminder to please sign up for lunch monitoring. If you can’t stay for the entire time, that’s OK – join us for an hour! We are in particular need between 11:30am-12:30pm. Lunch monitors are key just now as we transition back to open-serving lunch lines for the first time since pre-Covid. It’s a great way to get a glimpse of your kids as they go about their school day.

NOTE ABOUT COUNTRY SCHOOL COUNCIL

Every public school in the state is required by law to have a School Council made up of various representatives, including elected parents/guardians. According to the Massachusetts Department of Education, school councils are to assist principals in adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards, identifying the educational needs of students attending the school, reviewing the annual school building budget, and formulating a school improvement plan. Each seat has a two-year term, and as Country School held an election during the 2022-2023 school year we have no open seats for parent/guardian representatives for the 2023-2024 school year. We will have two openings next year. If this opportunity is of interest and you will have a child at Country School next year, we encourage you to run next Fall.

WEEFC FALL FUNDRAISER

On Saturday, September 30th, the Weston Education Enrichment Foundation Committee (WEEFC) will be hosting a fall celebration to raise funds for enrichment programming at all five Weston Public Schools. This outdoor, tented event will take place on the Field School field and feature food trucks, live music, and an auction. If you didn’t get a ticket to the now sold-out event, you can add your name to the waitlist by filling out this Google form, and you will be contacted if tickets become available. Visit the event website for more details, and be sure to follow along on Instagram for event updates and info on what WEEFC is doing in our schools.

OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you are interested in volunteering at any point in the year, please email Jess or Amy or visit the PTO membership website. Once in your Membership Toolkit account, click “Sign up to Volunteer” and select Country. There you will find a list of volunteer opportunities.

JOIN THE PTO

PTO membership provides parents and guardians the opportunity to volunteer for events throughout the school year. While membership does not require volunteer time, the hope is that all families in the District will join or renew their membership to support the work the PTO does in our schools on behalf of our children, faculty, staff, administration, and you, our parents and guardians! We work hard to support families and teachers and your membership funds go a long way! Your PTO membership also offers access to an online directory so you can connect with other families in your child(ren)’s school(s). PTO membership also keeps you more informed about special events and other important information to keep you up to speed on what’s happening. Thank you for joining the PTO!

If you have questions about membership or your current membership status, please contact Membership Co-Chairs Theresa Nibi and Jaclyn McDonald
