The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning provides overall direction in the areas of curriculum and instruction. That includes but is not limited to curriculum oversight, professional development, data analysis, grant management, and evaluations, as well as support and guidance for school-based administrators.

Dr. James “Kimo” Carter
Kimo Carter joined the Weston Public Schools on July 1, 2018, as the new Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
Kimo has been the Principal of Watertown Middle School since 2005. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Principal of Hawthorne Brook Middle School in Townsend MA and a social studies teacher in Billerica. He holds his Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University, Master of Arts in Teaching Degree in History and Education from Boston College, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Harvard University, and an Ed.D in Educational Administration from Boston College.
The District Director of Equity and Professional Learning Amy Kelly works with teachers and administrators to drive a variety of projects vital to the continued improvement of the district. These projects include, but are not limited to instructional coaching, providing leadership in the planning and implementation of social emotional learning, bullying prevention and intervention, and other equity, diversity, inclusion, and access initiatives. Future projects will include supporting implementation of the Weston Public Schools’ strategic visions and annual action plans.
