Mathematics in the Elementary Schools
In Weston elementary mathematics classrooms we aim to spark curiosity, discussion, perseverance, and enjoyment of number and pattern in the world around us. Our problem-based core curriculum, Illustrative Mathematics, is rooted in content and practice standards that foster learning and achievement for all. Students learn by doing math through solving problems, developing conceptual understanding, and discussing and defending their reasoning, viewing mathematics as a connected set of ideas. Students create, investigate, analyze and predict as they learn mathematics in an active, constructive process.
