Taste Test Day

Taste Test Day will be on Wednesday, November 14th.  Students will have the opportunity to try Quinoa Salad with Vegetables.  This recipe uses black beans and was submitted by Field School parent Mary Antaki.    Weston Public Schools participates in the National School Lunch Program.  As such, we are required to offer students beans and legumes at least once per week.  By offering beans and other legumes in a variety of different preparations, we hope to encourage students’ familiarity with and preference for this protein-packed, sustainable source of fiber and B vitamins.  If you would like to submit a recipe or support this program with your time, please contact WPS Nutrition Analyst and Farm to School Coordinator Kelly Shaw.

Fresh fruit, Caesar salad, and milk offered daily.

Before placing your order please inform your server if a person in your party has a food allergy.

USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.

Menu is subject to change.

Taste Test Day

Taste Test Day started in September with students sampling raw fennel from Land’s Sake Farm.  This vegetable elicited strong feelings in both the “Yes, I like it” and “No, I don’t” categories, with the votes split evenly down the middle in both grades.  Field School is full of adventurous eaters who are already looking forward to next month’s taste test.  Thank you for encouraging your students to try new foods! If you have ideas for future taste tests or would like to volunteer, contact WPS Nutrition Analyst and Farm to School Coordinator Kelly Shaw.
