Hawthorn Tree Will Be Planted Along the Legacy Trail

April 28, 2021/in School Newsletter /by shayj

On Friday, April 30th, Weston’s Tree Advisory Group will dedicate a hawthorn tree to the current Field School Fifth Grade Class (The Class of 2028). The “Winter King” hawthorn will be planted along the Legacy Trail at the highest viewpoint, where it will bring white spring flowers and pollinator interest to the trail. The Fifth-Grade tree has been a tradition since 2018 with the first fifth grade class tree, a red oak, dedicated to the Class of 2025. Students are encouraged to visit their new tree, give it some water, and take a photo–imagine how tall it will be when they graduate in spring 2028!

You can see the video of the first year tree here: https://weston.vod.castus.tv/vod/?video=a0e7cb4b-3946-47f6-b79d-8c3393258b0e which explains a little about the tradition.
