1. Field School Art Show: Thank You! Thanks to all who attended the art show on Wednesday evening! It was amazing to see the gym transformed with over 1,500 works of art, all from our fourth and fifth grade students. We hope you will enjoy the attached photos, which we also shared on our school Instagram Page. Attendees also enjoyed various art activities and live music from our very own custodian, the magnificent Mr. Millett! Thank you to those who volunteered both before and during the event; we are so appreciative of your help! For those who purchased framed artwork, stay tuned for more information regarding pick-up.

If you were unable to attend the show but wish to frame your student’s artwork, it’s not too late! When your child’s artwork comes home from school this week, please (1) select which piece(s) you would like framed; (2) click here to fill out the order form and provide payment information; and (3) send your selection(s) back in to school with your child to return to Mr. Ginga. The deadline to order is Friday, March 17. Your purchase supports WEEFC’s ongoing work to provide enrichment programming at all five Weston Public Schools. If you wish to have the artwork framed but are concerned about the cost, please contact Mr. Ginga or Dr. Green, and they will be happy to assist you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

2. Elementary Parent Forum – Tomorrow (Monday): Tomorrow’s forum will be held from 9:30-10:30 am in the Large Conference Room at Case House. This is an important opportunity for elementary parents to voice concerns and share priorities regarding the School Committee’s search for an interim superintendent for the district. We hope to see you there. Additional opportunities for families to participate include:

The School Committee will share the community’s collective feedback at their meeting on Monday, March 13.

3. Save the Date for the K-12 Science & Technology/Engineering Community Forum on March 16th: Please mark your calendars for the  K-12 Science & Technology/Engineering Community Forum.  This forum will be held on Thursday, March 16 at 8:30 am in the  Field School Cafeteria, and it will also be available via Zoom for those unable to attend in person.  This is a part of the Science External Review Process, where the external team will be seeking feedback from community members.  If you would like to submit questions or have comments about the review, please contact K-5 Curriculum Specialist Susan Erickson, via email at Ericksons@weston.org.  The Zoom link will be provided closer to the forum. Thank you in advance for your participation.

4. METCO – Seeking Community Coordinator: METCO is looking for a Community Coordinator for the Weston METCO program to support and strengthen relationships between Boston resident and Weston resident students and families. This position reports directly to the METCO Director and is eligible for an $8,000 stipend (over a full school year). We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who are inspired by our mission to educate, equip, and inspire all students to achieve their full potential and enrich their community. Please click here for the complete job posting.

5. Kindergarten Registration: Does your Field Schooler have a younger sibling? Kindergarten registration is currently underway for those eligible to enter kindergarten in September 2023! Early registration ensures that families will receive all relevant kindergarten announcements in the coming months, including next month’s kindergarten screening details. Click here for registration information, and please don’t hesitate to share this information with any new members of the Weston community who may not have access to this information already.

6. Fractal Fair: What is a “fractal?” What does chaos theory have to do with the stock market or predicting the weather? How does fractal geometry influence cancer research? How do you measure the coastline of France or Florida? And what does fractal music sound like? How can fractals and chaos theory help us understand forest fires? You can find out answers to all these questions and more at the Fractal Fair on Tuesday, March 14 from 6:30-8:00 pm in the Weston High School Library! This is the first time since the pandemic that we are able to bring back the Fractal Fair in person–and it will not disappoint! There will be live demos, activities, music, and more.

This year, It happens to coincide with Pi day (3.14)….what?! What could be better and more appropriate?!  The fractal fair is hosted by the math department but run by all the Honors Precalculus students at Weston. There will be 28 groups in total presenting their projects on a wide range of topics related to fractals. The fair will be appropriate for EVERYONE, from elementary-age kids to grandparents!
