Head Athletic Trainer Andrew Rizza MS, ATC, LAT
Andrew has been working in the healthcare industry for over 25 years both in private practice and traditional athletic training settings. His responsibilities at Weston include injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation and performance education and training for all athletes. In addition to being the Athletic Trainer at Weston he serves as the Clinical Director for ATI Physical Therapy in Wellesley providing performance and rehabilitation therapies to a large patient population. He has built his network working with a collective group of orthopedic and non-orthopedic physicians providing clinical opportunities for clinicians, athletes and patients alike.
In addition to his responsibilities he serves the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as the Vice Chair of the Board of Allied Health which was appointed to him by Governor Charlie Baker. He also serves on the advisory board for Impact Biosystems in Lexington Ma, is a member of the Department of Public Health’s Concussion Advisory Board and a former member of the Massachusetts Concussion Management Coalition.
Andrew attended Northeastern University where he received both his BS in Athletic Training and MS in Leadership and Health Management. He also attended the Physical Therapy Assistant program for Athletic Trainers at Kent State University. In addition to his advanced degrees he most recently completed his MS in Applied Sports Science Analytics from Lasell University in order to stay current in the ever changing landscape in healthcare, sports rehabilitation and sports performance. Andrew is dually licensed as a Certified Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist Assistant in Massachusetts and also serves as an approved clinical instructor for Lasell College’s Athletic Training curriculum.
Specializations and interests include orthopedics, athletic injury prevention and rehabilitation, concussion management, sports specific programming and sports science analytics. Andrew continues to be an active member of both the National Athletic Trainers Association and Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts organizations.
