Practice ACT Exam
Guidance is offering the “PreACT” test on Saturday morning, March 17th. It is a practice test for the ACT which gives students a low-stress chance to try out this college admissions test option. This is NOT an official ACT and scores are only shared with counselors and students (not colleges). We strongly recommend that all sophomores take this test as it will be useful in determining which standardized tests (ACT vs SAT) may be best for individual students to take in the college application process. Juniors who might have focused on the SAT and want to try out the ACT are welcome to sign up, as space allows. (Priority is given to sophomores.)
The fee for this test is $20 until Monday, March 12th, after which there will be an additional $5 late fee ($25 total). The preferred method of registration and payment is through the “Online Payment Center” for Weston Public Schools.
Click here for a link to the online form. The payment center link can also be found in the bottom left of the Weston Public Schools district home page. If you have enrolled students in programs at Weston Recreation, you may already have an account. If you don’t have an account, it will take a day or two to set you up with a PIN. (Any questions about Online Payment can be directed to Ashley Lopes at Case House or 781-786-5236). Checks made payable to “Town of Weston” will also be accepted in the guidance office.
The test will be held at the high school. Check-in begins at 7:30am and the test will begin promptly at 7:45. Students who arrive late will not be allowed to take the test. Students will need to bring #2 pencils and a calculator. We WILL NOT provide calculators or batteries. Upon arrival, students will enter through the main entrance to check in to find out their assigned room. Students generally finish between 11:15 and 11:30.
If you have any questions, please contact your student’s counselor.
